Supermicro SuperBlade 612BA-1NE34 - System Overview
The SuperBlade enclosures are designed to fit in 42U racks, accommodating up to 70 servers, with each enclosure capable of housing 10x single width blades. Power, networking, cooling, and management are handled by the enclosure, while the blades provide the compute, memory, and storage. With 10x blades per 6U chassis, up to 70x server nodes can be installed in a standard 42U rack. The Supermicro 612BA-1NE34 supports 1x FHFL double-width PCIe card or 2x single-width PCIe cards using 2x PCIe Gen5 x16 slots to support optional mezzanine cards. It also offers dual onboard 25G Ethernet ports, that connect to the Switch modules located on the back of the enclosure.

At the front, the node features 4x hot-swap E3.S NVMe drive bays, supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 when paired with a Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) key. Additionally, dual NVMe M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 slots on the motherboard support 2280 and 22110 form factor drives, providing extra storage or support for the OS and hypervisor. The system includes a Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) for remote access, monitoring, and management through the Chassis Management Module or CMM. The CMM is required and helps Administrators control individual server nodes as well as PSUs, temperature, networking switches, power status, and fan speeds. The system supports both air and liquid cooling options.
