Each blade supports 1x vertical M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe SSD slot for a 2280 form factor card. A single 6U enclosure holds up to 10x single-width single-or dual-socket blades, like the Supermicro SuperBlade 621E-1NE34 enabling up to 70x servers per 42U rack. Optional front-facing liquid cooling tube inlets offer even greater thermal efficiency for demanding workloads.
Management of the system is through SuperDoctor 5 (SD5), and SuperCloud Composer among other software utilities. Additionally, the Chassis Management Module or CMM on the back of the enclosure is a command module that communicates with the server nodes, power supplies, cooling fans, and networking switches. The enclosure must have at least 1x CMM, with 2x CMMs used for redundancy at which point one is assigned master and the other slave status.

The Supermicro 621E-1NE34 is powered by dual 4th or 5th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, including support for the high-performance Intel Xeon CPU Max Series. These processors offer up to 28 cores and 56 threads, with a thermal design power (TDP) rating of up to 205W when air cooled. With 32x DDR5 DIMM slots, the system supports up to 8TB of memory using RDIMMs or 3DS RDIMMs, with speeds ranging from 4400 MT/s to 5600 MT/s, depending on the CPU, memory modules, and memory configuration. For expandability, the chassis includes space near the front for 2x PCIe add-on cards.
