The Supermicro SuperServer 1029UX-LL2-C16 Server is a completely configured high-density 1U system outfitted with dual Intel Xeon Gold 6246 processors. Each processor supports 8x DIMM slots for up to 4TB of memory at capacity. The front of the system has 10x hot-swappable hybrid drive bays. Applications for this system include mission critical business applications and use as a general enterprise server.
This system is only available completely assembled*. Supporting dual Intel Xeon Gold 6246 Processors, the Supermicro SuperServer 1029UX-LL2-C16 is a system designed for high-performance workloads and offers fairly substantial storage for only 1U. There are a total of 16x DIMM slots on the system board that can be configured with up to 4TB of memory. On the front of the system 8x SAS3 drive bays and 2x NVMe drive bays can be found. The system is powered by redundant 750W Platinum power supplies.
*This system is only sold as a completely assembled system including both processors, plus an allocation of memory and SSD storage devices, plus at least one low-latency NIC must be selected and installed into the system. Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6246 Processors provide the computational capabilities of this system, which features an X11 motherboard. Each CPU provides 28x physical cores and 56x virtual threads. The system is powered by a redundant set of 750W Platinum Power Supply Units (PSUs). To cool the system there 8x hot swappable heavy-duty fans.
On the front of the system, there are 10 bays total with 8x hot-swappable 2.5-inch SAS3 drive bays and 2x 2.5-inch hot-swappable NVMe drive bays. The NVMe drives connect directly to the motherboard. SAS drives are enabled through a Broadcom SAS 3108 Controller, which SAS at 12Gb/s with 8x ports and 22GB on-card cache.
A total of 16x DIMM slots are on the system board of Supermicro 1029UX-LL2-C16 Server. When fully configured, up to 4TB of memory can be installed on this system using 256GB 3DS DDR4 Registered or Load Reduced DIMMs. The supported memory speeds on this system include 2933MHz, 2666MHz, 2400MHz, or 2133MHz speeds depending on memory modules and configuration. 12x 16GB memory modules providing up to 192GB of memory come pre-installed on this system.
The onboard PCIe expansion slots provide opportunities for more network connections and link speeds. There are 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots as well as dual PCIe 3.0 x8 slots, one of which is dedicated for an internal SAS3 3108 controller. Another slot is reserved for one of the low-latency NIC options (described above and included in the specifications section). 4x integrated RJ45 1Gb/s Ethernet ports are provided on the back of the system next to a dedicated IPMI LAN port. One low-latency card is required for this fully assembled system at time of purchase, refer to the specifications below for specific model references.
System management is handled through various 3rd party software utilities. Included in this list are the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0, KVM with dedicated LAN, NMI, SSM, SPM, SUM, the SuperDoctor 5, and WatchDog. SuperDoctor 5 and Watchdog are developed by Supermicro and offer remote and at chassis management through a browser interface. This system also comes with an out of band (OOB) management package with a per node license.
