The Supermicro SuperServer 2029UZ-TR4+ Server is part of Supermicro’s Ultra line of SuperServers. It features dual Intel Xeon Scalable Processors with support for up to 6TB of memory with generous upfront storage, including up to 20x SAS plus up to 4x NVMe storage devices.
Ideal for Hyperconverged storage, virtualization, cloud computing and enterprise businesses, the Supermicro SuperServer 2029UZ-TR4+ is a 2U system with 24x hot swap 2.5-inch drive bays up front plus up to four optional NVMe drives. This system is also compatible with Intel’s Optane data centric persistent memory modules (DCPMM).
The SuperMicro 2029UZ-TR4+ comes with a minimal configuration including 2x CPUS from either the Gen 1 or Gen 2 Scalable families and 4x memory modules. Each CPU supports 6x memory channels and memory speeds of up to 2933MT/s for Gen 2 processors and a top speed of 2666MT/s with Gen 1 Intel Xeon Scalable processors. The system will be outfitited with either a 1600W or 1000W power supplies, depending on your specific configuration. Redundancy is supported.
There are 24x active memory module slots total with a two-processor configuration. Each processor supports 12x memory modules with 2x memory modules per channel. Registered (RDIMM), Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) and 3DS RDIMM and LRDIMM modules are supported on Gen 1 and Gen 2 Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Gen 2 processors will also support Optane memory modules for improved data retention. 3DS RDIMM or LRDIMM memory modules will provide the highest memory capacity at 6TB.
24x drive bays up front support up to 24x 2.5-inch SATA or SAS III drives. An optional configuration has 20x SAS III drives plus up to 4x NVMe drives for data resiliency. There are two more 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays in the rear of the chassis plus support for an optional M.2 storage device with an optional riser (RSC-UMR-8). Two more NVMe M.2 drives can be installed using an optional PCIe add-on card.
Eight expansion slots provide options to support your workflow. All slots are PCIe 3.0 with one x16 slot and seven x8 slots. Options include additional RAID controllers for SAS and SATA drives, plus optional network controllers offering faster connection speeds of up 40GbE.
Tell-tale LED lights on the front of the SuperMicro 2029UZ-TR4+ provide visual clues on power, hard drive activity, and network communications. A dedicated management port using IPMI 2.0 provides a link to the Redfish API for local and remote access of the system. The system is also compatible with Supermicro SuperDoctor which monitors system health and availability in data centers, in real time, and can be configured to provide alerts.
