Featuring the newest generation of Supermicro motherboards, the Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-E1CRTP offers plenty of options for any workload. The system supports dual Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs from either the first- or second-generation. Aside from the 12x storage bays on the front of the system, it also offers support for M.2 solid state drives. Under the hood, there are 24x memory module slots that are compatible with several types of memory. Compared to the other platforms in the same Ultra SuperServer family, this system supports 2x 10G SFP+ Ethernet ports.
The configurations on the Supermicro SuperServer 6029U-E1CRTP can be adjusted for any workload. The system has 12x hot-swappable 3.5-inch storage bays that support SATA, SAS, or NVMe. Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 28 cores each support Gen1 or Gen2. Within its 2U form factor, the server holds 24x DDR4 memory module slots with up to 6TB of memory.

Dual sockets support Intel Xeon Scalable processors on the newest X11 generation motherboard. Processors from either the first or second-generation with up to 28 cores and a TDP from 70W to 205W are supported. When using Gen1 CPUs, memory speeds of up to 2666MHz are possible, and Gen2 processors can reach a faster speed of 2933MHz.
The memory slots on the SuperServer 6029U-E1CRTP can be populated with different types of memory modules, but mixing is not allowed. All DIMMs must also be DDR4. The motherboard has 24x memory module slots for up to 6TB when using Load Reduced (LRDIMM) or Registered (RDIMM) memory modules. Up to 3TB of memory are offered when using Load Reduced DIMM (LRDIMM) with speeds of up to 2933 MHz when using 2nd generation CPUs. In addition, the system supports Non-Volatile (NV-DIMM) and Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory (DCPMM).
The platform supports 12x hot-swap 3.5-inch storage bays with either SATA or SAS drives using an add-on card and expander. On the back of the system, there are 2x hot-swap 2.5-inch drive bays for solid state drives. The system also has the option for 4x NVMe drives. For overall maximum performance, the chassis has room for 2x M.2 drives. One supports PCIe and the other supports SATA.
Looking at the rear side of the chassis, there are 2x 10G SFP+ Ethernet ports and 7x PCIe 3.0 slots, but there is an additional PCIe slot on the motherboard, for a total of 8x PCIe expansion cards. Also on the motherboard, you will find support for 2x GPUs.

Management of the 6029U-E1CRTP is achieved through a variety of programs running on either Windows or Linux. The system supports SuperDoctor5 (SD5), Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), and Intelligent Platform Management Interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0), among others. IPMI provides remote access, monitoring and management through the baseboard management controller (BMC) found on the back of the system.
