The Supermicro SuperStorage 2028R-ACR24H server offers support for dual Intel Xeon processors from the E5-2600 v4/v3 family and up to 16x memory module slots, all housed in a 2U form factor. The machine can support up to 2TB of memory, and has 7x PCIe 3.0 slots, with 26x hot-swappable SFF drive bays.
Designed to meet and exceed the needs of demanding enterprise storage needs, the Supermicro SuperStorage 2028R-ACR24H is a 2U server capable of supporting a dual socket configuration and 26x drive bays. Up to 16x DIMM slots are available with up to 2TB of memory. The rear of the chassis holds 7x PCIe Gen3 slots along with I/O ports for management and VGA options.
The Supermicro 2028R-ACR24H server supports one or two Intel Xeon processors from the E5-2600 v4/v3 family. Top of the line v4 processors supported on this platform include those with a TDP of up to 145W, a cache of up to 55MB, and up to 22 cores, for a total of up to 44 cores when both CPUs are installed. The CPUs have an Intel QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) capable of 9.6 GT/s to create a data path between the CPU and the C612 chipset. Two redundant 920W power supply units (PSU) on the chassis have an auto-switching capability that enables them to automatically detect and work at an input voltage range of 100 to 240 volts. When the power is turned off, an amber light will be visible on the power supply. When the green light is on, the power supply is functioning normally.
A total of 2TB of load-reduced (LRDIMM) or 512GB of registered (RDIMM) ECC DDR4 memory can be deployed on the Super X10DRH-iT motherboard. Memory speeds of up to 2400, 2133, 1866, 1600MHz are supported. Best performance is achieved with memory modules that are of the same type and speed.
There are a total of 26x drive bays on this machine. 24x hot-swap 2.5” drive bays are located on the front panel of the SuperStorage 2028R-ACR24H server. These drives support SAS3 or SATA3 HDD drives and are directly attached to a SAS 3.0 backplane providing 12Gb/s connectivity. This chassis supports an optional hard drive cage for 2x additional SFF hot-swappable storage bays on the rear of the system. SAS is supported via an AOC-S3108L-H8IR-16DD add-on-card (AOC).
The 2028R-ACR24H can accommodate up to 7x PCIe 3.0 slots, but 3x of the slots on the server board are already populated with hardware AOC-S3108L-H8IR-16DD controller cards. In addition, there are two 10GbE LAN ports located on the I/O backplane, plus a dedicated IPMI LAN port to manage the system.
The Aspeed AST2400 baseboard management controller (BMC) can be enabled to provide IPMI 2.0 support. This interface allows monitoring capabilities including fan speed, CPU support, and drive bay failure. The system can also be managed by the Watch Dog function, which reboots the system when a software application hangs. Additional management features are available with the purchase of the Out of Band Management Package (OOB Management Package) and Data Center Management Package, both of which are on a per node license model.
