Supermicro SuperStorage 6049P-E1CR60H Server

Description

Ideal for Corporate Databases, Database Processing and Storage, Enterprise Server, High-Performance Computing and Data Center applications the Supermicro SuperStorage 6049P-E1CR60H Server features a 4U chassis. Dual CPU sockets on this system are compatible with 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. Each socket supports 12x DIMM slots for a total of 24x active DIMM slots on the system board. There are 60x hot-swap SAS3/SATA3 3.5-inch drive bays accessible from the top of the system in addition to two more 2.5-inch SATA drives on the rear of the system and an optional internal drive cage that can support 6x 2.5-inch NVMe drive bays.

Performance

Powered by dual 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors, the Supermicro 6049P-E1CR60H Server can be configured with up to 28x physical cores and 56x virtual threads, per socket. Processors with a Thermal Design Point between 70W and 205W are supported, which includes the full line-up of Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Each processor supports PCIe 3.0 along with 6x memory channels. The 2nd Generation CPUs are compatible with Data Centric Persistent Memory, or DCPMMs.

Storage

There are a total of 60x 3.5-inch hot-swappable SAS3/SATA3 drive bays which are accessible from the top of the Supermicro 6049P-E1CR60H. The rear of the system houses dual 2.5-inch SATA drive bays that can be used to support the OS. For fast access storage needs, Administrators can install an additional 6x NVMe drive bays which are available via an optional internal drive cage. It is possible to install 2.5-inch drives on the 3.5-inch drive bays without converter trays.

Memory

With both processors installed, there are 24x active memory slots compatible with Registered DIMMs (RDIMM) and Load Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMM). The maximum memory capacity on this system is 6TB using 3DS ECC DDR4 2933MHz RDIMM or LRDIMM. With 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors installed, DCPMMs are supported for greater speed and memory resiliency. Supported memory speeds on this system include 2933MHz, 2666MHz, 2400MHz, and 2133MHz.

Expansion

System expansion is achieved through dual PCIe 3.0 x16 slots as well as a single PCIe 3.0 x8 slot. In addition, a Supermicro I/O Module (SIOM) slot is also available which provides additional network access to the system without using any of the limited PCIe slots. A dedicated GbE port on the back of the system provides access to the systems management capabilities.

Management

Supermicro provides a suite of management software including the Intel Node Manager, the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0, NMI, SSM, SPM, SUM, SuperDoctor 5, and Watchdog. Supermicro’s Out-of-Band license key provides remote access for the system which can be accessed remotely through the dedicated RJ45 GbE port on the back of the system.

The 4U rackmount Supermicro SuperStorage 6049P-E1CR60H Server supports 2x 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. Each socket supports 12x DIMM slots for a total of 24x DIMM slots and up to 6TB of memory. 60x 3.5-inch hot-swappable drive bays are available by removing the server cover from the top of the system. Storage can also be augmented with 2x additional drives in back and an optional internally-mounted 6-bay NVMe drive cage for a total of 68 storage devices.
