The Supermicro SuperStorage 641E-E1CR36H features 24x 3.5-inch bays on the front, with 12x more on the back of the chassis plus 2x 2.5-inch drive bays. There is an option enabling support for up to 6x PCIe 5.0 NVMe drive bays, which may require additional hardware. At capacity, the system can support up to 4TB of memory using DDR5 Registered DIMM (RDIMM) memory modules in all 16x DIMM slots. Depending on the choice of processor and memory module, memory can run at up to 5600MT/s. As an air-cooled system, CPUs are limited to a Thermal Design Power threshold of 270W.
Expansion is through 4x PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, plus 2x PCIe 5.0 x8 slots, all are low profile. If installing SAS drives, a SAS controller card is required. Hardware RAID support is via a Broadcom 3908 controller. Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) is also supported for RAID using NVMe SSDs. Powering the system are dual, redundant 1600W Titanium-level hot-plug power supply units (PSUs). The system features 2x integrated 10GbE RJ45 ports and a dedicated 1GbE baseboard management controller (BMC) LAN port.
