The Supermicro SuperWorkstation 7049GP-TRT is optimized for applications requiring powerful graphics capabilities. The 4U tower system uses the latest Intel Xeon Scalable processors, also known as Cascade Lake, with up to 205 watts and 28 cores, but is also compatible with 1st generation CPUs known as Skylake. The chassis also features 8x hot-swap drive bays in a 3.5-inch configuration, 4x NVMe 2.5-inch drives, and 1 M.2 NVMe drive.
Fueled by two of the latest 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the Supermicro SuperWorkstation 7049GP-TRT supports 4x Nvidia GPUs with up to 4TB of memory when all 16 memory modules are filled. This compact workhorse can help you get the job done faster and easier than ever with its onboard expansion slots for GPUs.
As a Supermicro X11 SuperWorkstation, the 7049GP-TRT supports dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 205 watts and 28 cores. A maximum of 4TB of DDR4 memory with a frequency up to 2933MHz can be supported, but only when using 2nd generation processors. A 2200 watt redundant power supply with PMBus supports the 80+ titanium level certification. Cooling is provided by 4x heavy duty fans located in the mid-section of the chassis, two fans are located in the rear, and two optional fans can be mounted on the external rear of the chassis, required for passive GPUs. The internal fans come pre-installed to the chassis and each fan is hot-swappable.
The system can be configured to meet your needs and push the performance of new technology with its fully loaded capabilities. It supports 4TB of 3DS Load Reduced DIMM (3DS LRDIMM), 3DS Registered DIMM (3DS RDIMM), or up to 2TB of Load Registered DIMM (LRDIMM) with its 16x DIMM slots. A frequency up to 2933MHz can be reached when using Gen2 CPUs. The system is also compatible with Intel Optane memory modules (DCPMM).
To locally store data, this system supports up to 8x hot-swap drive bays in a 3.5-inch configuration, 4x NVMe 2.5-inch drives, and 1 M.2 NVMe drive. The motherboard has eight I-SATA 3.0 ports, which are supported by the Intel C621 chipset. In addition, it also has two S-SATA 3.0 ports that are supported by the Intel SCU.
The onboard expansion slots support 6 PCIe 3.0 x16 slots and 1 PCIe 3.0 x4 slot. Chosen for performance-focused applications, the system supports an M.2 slot to enjoy lightening-quick storage speeds. This platform also supports up to 4x Nvidia GPUs, 2x 10GBase-T ports and one dedicated IPMI LAN port for remote management.
The SuperWorkstation 7049GP-TRT can be managed using several different programs. Intel Node Manager, Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), SuperDoctor 5, and IPMI 2.0 are some software programs that can manage the platform. IPMI provides remote access, helping to diagnose and troubleshoot potential system issues. One of the components that can be managed is fan speed, which is controlled by the system temperature through IPMI. If a fan fails, the remaining fans will ramp up to full speed.
The 4U Supermicro SuperWorkstation 7049GP-TRT can help with scientific virtualization, bioinformatics, and any other high-performing applications. Dual Gen1 or Gen2 Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs deliver the performance needed for intensive workloads, along with 16x memory module slots with a maximum of 4TB of DDR4 memory. The system features a highly flexible design and adapts as requirements change over time including expandable storage options, GPU support, and multiple expansion slots.
