The Supermicro UP Storage SuperServer 522B-ACR12L can be used to support general purpose computing, data center enterprise applications, database processing and storage, plus ISCSI SAN and use as a corporate database. CPUs can provide up to 86 physical cores and 172 virtual threads using those with P-cores or up to 144 physical cores and 144 virtual threads using CPUs with E-cores. For this platform, CPUs with a TDP of up to 350W are supported.
Providing basic network communications, are 2x integrated 10GbE LAN ports and a 1GbE LAN port to access the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) for remote access to the system. There are also 2x PCIe 5.0 x2 slots that can support NVMe M.2 drives in a RAID to support the OS or just for additional super-fast storage. NVMe RAID of 0 and 1 are supported via an intel VROC key. Providing alternatives for additional network communications and hard drive support are 6x PCIe 5.0 slots, with 3x x8 slots and 3x x16 slots. By default, PCIe slot 1 is occupied by a Broadcom 3816 SAS controller at 12Gb/s.
The 522B-ACR12L storage server can be managed using several software suites provided by Supermicro. Those applications include SuperCloud Composer, Supermicro Server Manager (SSM), Super Diagnostics Offline (SDO), Supermicro Thin-Agent Service (TAS), and SuperServer Automation Assistant (SAA).
