The 12-bay TruNAS Mini R Storage is iX Systems' first rack-mountable Mini. It is powered by an octa-core Intel Atom C3758 processor and offers unified file, block, and object storage. Weighing just over 18 pounds, this storage appliance features 12 lockable 3.5” SATA hot-swappable drive bays, supporting up to 216TB of storage. Optional adapters for 2.5” SATA SSDs are also available, allowing for over 90TB of flash storage. Drives and 3.5” trays from other Minis can be easily transferred to the Mini R. This system is perfect for home or office use, suitable for both desktop and rack setups.

The Mini R can be equipped with up to 256GB of DDR4 ECC memory by populating all four memory module slots with 64GB modules. It includes 2x 10GbE RJ45 ports as standard, and an optional dual 10GbE SFP+ card can be installed in the PCIe 3.0 x4 slot. The system also supports an IPMI out-of-band management interface for secure remote administrative access. Offering low noise transmission ideal for small offices or home use, it is also suitable for non-critical enterprise deployments. Power consumption ranges from 63W with no drives up to a maximum power consumption of up to 167W with drives and a 10G add-on-card.

Data protection is provided by the self-healing ZFS filesystem. TrueNAS is compatible with a variety of cloud storage providers, such as Amazon, Azure, Google Cloud, BackBlaze, and Dropbox. It supports data replication between systems and integrates with iX-Storj Globally Distributed Storage. In the event that a hard drive fails, administrators can modify permissions, perform maintenance, and monitor drive health using an easy-to-use web interface from a single web browser.
