The 2U, all-flash TrueNAS R40 storage system offers up to 48x 2.5-inch, 7mm SSD drive bays. It can be outfitted with 720TB of raw storage for up to 2PB of effective storage using standard data reduction through compression and deduplication. This short-depth, single-controller system supports Intel CPUs with up to 16 cores and can be configured with up to 192GB of memory. The R40 is ideal for file serving, media streaming, backup, archive, virtualization, and databases.

With 2x SAS expansion cards, up to 2x additional expansion shelves can be connected to the storage array. The TrueNAS R40 storage system features 2x 100G Ethernet ports for the highest network performance, clustering, file and SMB sharing, and more. Additionally, it offers an option for 2x 32G Fibre Channel ports to connect host systems. The TrueNAS R40, along with the entire R-Series, can run any of the 3x TrueNAS software versions: CORE, Enterprise, and SCALE, with bronze and silver support options available for Enterprise installations. The system is powered by dual redundant 600W or 800W PSUs.
TrueNAS supports a wide range of cloud storage providers, including Amazon, Azure, Google Cloud, BackBlaze, and Dropbox. It also offers data replication between all TrueNAS systems and integration with iX-Storj Globally Distributed Storage.
