The Tyan Thunder HX FT77DB7109 B7109F77DV10E4HR-2T-N Server is designed for applications in Oil & Gas Discovery, Cryptography, Cryptocurrency Mining, Particle Physics, Genetic Sequencing, and Large-Scale Facial Recognition. This platform is very similar to the Tyan B7109F77DV10E4HR-2T-NF platform but does not offer support for the Intel Xeon Scalable OmniPath Fabric processors.

Performance

You can install one or two Intel Xeon Scalable processors up to 205W offering up to 10.4GT/s with the UltraPath interconnect (UPI). Scalable processors also offer a 50% increase in memory performance thanks to six memory channels which is two more than the previous generation Broadwell platform that only featured four memory channels per processor.

Storage

The Tyan FT77DB7109 B7109F77DV10E4HR-2T-N Server can support up to ten 2.5-inch SATA drives plus up to four NVMe U.2 drives in hot-swap drive bays. The NVMe drives will require two OCuLink Tyan M2093 PCIe cards to support all four U.2 drives and both can be installed on the dedicated pre-installed Tyan mezzanine card.

Memory

You can install either registered (RDIMM), load-reduced (LRDIMM), or 3DS LRDIMM or RDIMM memory modules. Using the 3Ds LRDIMM or LRDIMM memory modules will provide the maximum capacity of up to 3TB of memory in a two-processor configuration. Using standard registered memory modules will provide the least capacity at 768GB.

Expansion

The real highlight here is support for up to eight high-performance GPU accelerators from Nvidia in eight x16 PCIe 3.0 slots on the PCIe board. A set of four PEX switches split the PCIe lanes and control traffic to the GPUs optimizing performance.

Management

An Onboard Aspeed AST2400 controller provides system monitoring and management features. A display panel on the left-hand side of the front panel also provides tell-tale warning lights with a high temperature warning indicator, plus fan, and PSU warning lights.
