The Tyan Transport HX FT65TB8030 B8030F65TV8E2H-N server tower is a flexible appliance that can also be used as a deskside server platform or mounted in a standard 42U server enclosure. The single AMD EPYC series processor provides support for up to 2TB of memory, plus up to 4x high-performance double-wide GPUs. 10x front hybrid storage bays provide ample storage, plus optional M.2 drives. Power of up to 2000W is available with a 200-240V AC system with 1500W and 1200W with other supplied power options.

Performance

Using a single 7002 (Rome) or 7003 (Milan) AMD EPYC processor, it provides from 8 to a maximum of 64 cores and 128 virtual threads of processing power to support a variety of applications. Each family also delivers PCIe 4.0 and up to 8x memory channels for increased memory density.

Memory

With 8x memory channels and 8x memory module sockets on the system board, the memory on the Tyan Transport HX FT65TB8030 B8030F65TV8E2H-N server tower has maximum throughput without bottlenecks. Memory supported on this system includes DDR4 Registered (RDIMM) and Load-reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules operating at speeds of up to 3200MT/s.

Storage

With 8x 3.5-inch storage bays on the lower portion of the chassis, and 2x 2.5-inch drive bays just above those, this system has ample storage for a number of mission critical applications. The top 2.5-inch drive bays have a separate backplane from the other bays and support SATA or U.2 NVMe drives with a PCIe 3.0 interface. The lower 8x 3.5-inch drive bays can be outfitted with SATA drives natively or with SAS drives using a discrete HBA/RAID controller. Two NVMe M.2 drives can be installed in two separate x4 PCIe 4.0 slots on the system board with the slots squeezed between the x16 PCIe slots at the back of the system.

Expansion

Thanks to the AMD EPYC processor, there are 128 PCIe 4.0 slots to work with for support of the NVMe drives in front, plus the 2x PCIe x4 slots for the M.2 drives squeezed in between the 5x PCIe x16 slots in back. An additional pre-installed Tyan riser has room for one more x16 slot with a x8 PCIe 4.0 lane that can be used for a dedicated SAS HBA/RAID controller. Four of the 5x PCIe slots in back are spaced apart allowing the installation of up to 4x double-wide PCIe cards including Nvidia Quadro, Tesla, and GeForce options. For AI applications, the Ampere-based A100 is supported. This platform offers two integrated 1GbE ports for network communications.

Management

A dedicated RJ45 slot in the back of the chassis provides access to the integrated Aspeed AST2500 management module on the system board. The Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) is IPMI 2.0 compliant and allows for remote management of the system using the MegaRAC SP-X solution as a base. MegaRAC SP-X is gaining wide-spread acceptance across manufacturers and offers status indicators like temperatures, voltages, fan speeds and other useful information with a browser-based HTML 5 interface.

Summary

Outfitted with a single AMD EPYC 7002 or 7003 processor, this platform can still deliver more cores than an Intel-based system using two processors. It can also support up to 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes allowing it to comfortably support multiple GPUs and NVMe drive options with ease.
