Featuring a mini-tower design with support for a single 12th or 13th generation Intel Core vPro processor, the Dell Precision 3660 workstation can be outfitted with up to 128GB of memory. This system features integrated graphics or a single discrete NVIDIA or AMD Radeon GPU with up to 350W of power. The Dell Precision 3660 Workstation Tower has a single 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch front-accessible storage bay and can also be configured to support a front accessible M.2 NVMe drive.
The upper portion of the mini-tower has a single 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch front-accessible storage bay and can also be configured to support a front accessible M.2 NVMe drive. Inside the Dell Precision 3660 Workstation Tower there are two additional 3.5-inch storage bays and 3x PCIe 4.0 slots on the system board for M.2 NVMe storage devices. An additional M.2 slot supports a WiFi Bluetooth card. Cooling is provided by 2x large fans in front and an additional fan at the rear of the chassis. The CPU also has a heat sink with fan assembly. Several USB ports (USB 3.2 Type-A and Type C) front and back provide connections for a variety of external devices. There is also an SD card reader in the front panel, plus a combo audio-mic jack and RJ45 network port on the back of the chassis. Operating systems supported on this system include Windows 11, Windows 10, and Linux Ubuntu and Red Hat. Powering the system is a choice of 300W, 500W, 750W or 1000W 80 Plus Platinum power supplies with a 1000W PSU recommended for GPU support of cards in excess of 300W. Sound is provided by a optional single speaker operating at t peak output of 2.2W.
The processor heat sink is available in two different versions depending on the chosen CPU, either a 65W or 125W assembly. The 65W version supports a fan, while the 125W option has a finned aluminum stack with a fan assembly. Another option is a liquid cooler with fan and small radiator. Supported 12th and 13th generation processors from the i3, i5, i7 and i9 categories are supported and come with Intel Integrated graphics with two ports in back for displays if a discrete GPU is not installed. With a discrete GPU the system can support up to 4x monitors. The supported CPUs offer cores counts of 4, 6, 10, 12 or 16 using a top-of-the-line i9 processor.
Dell Precision 3660 Workstation Tower will support up to 128GB of DDR5 ECC or non-ECC memory modules using 32GB modules in all 4x slots. A minimal configuration has a single 8GB memory module. Depending on the processor and memory modules installed in the system, memory speeds supported include 4400MHz to 3600MHz. Some of the lower end CPUs do not support ECC memory.
An externally accessible 3.5-inch storage bay is located in the upper portion of the front of the chassis. Two additional 3.5-inch storage bays are located in the lower front of the chassis (Bay 1) and upper rear (Bay 2), respectively, and feature a tool-less support bracket. Three M.2 NVMe SSD drives can be installed directly on the motherboard along with an M.2 WiFi card. The system also supports an optional slimline optical drive in the upper front of the chassis and can be outfitted with a Dell Precision Ultra Speed Drive in one of the PCIe slots. Onboard software RAID includes 0, 1, 5, and 10.
There are 3x PCIe slots on the system board with one dedicated for a graphics card only using a x16 PCIe Gen5 slot. Of the two remaining slots, one is a x4 PCIe Gen4 slot and the other is a x4 PCIe Gen3 slot. If using a discrete GPU card, the integrated display ports supporting either Intel UHD Graphics 730 (with an i3 CPU) or 770 (With either i5, i7 or i9 CPUs) on the system are inactive or may be covered. The GPU has an end holder to secure the card depending on the length of the card plus a graphics card holder in the center. The system can also be outfitted with a Dell Precision ultra-speed drive for more storage or an audio card, or NICs.
With integrated network ports on the back of the system offering 1GbE and optional 2.5GbE port the system can be managed remotely. The Dell Precision Optimizer is also available to help users get the most out of the system will an AI-optimized platform that will automatically adjust the settings for the ISV certified programs ensuring the best performance and eliminating guesswork. An analytics feature enables remote managers to generation reports and get system diagnostics.
As a mid- to entry-level platform, the Dell Precision 3660 Workstation Tower can support the vast majority of users. It also offers exceptional performance when outfitted with high-end CPUs and a compatible GPU, transitioning from work to gaming with ease.
