Outfitted with a single Intel Xeon W-2400 series CPU, users can choose from W3, W5, or W7 processors with up to 24 physical cores and 48 virtual threads. VR and AI ready, the Dell 5860 is a workstation tower designed for advanced graphics, 3D animation, CADD and CAM applications plus AI Development and AI Deployment. CPU options are limited to those with a maximum thermal design point (TDP) of 225W. There are 8x quad-channel DDR5 DIMM module slots on the system board, which support a maximum memory capacity of 2TB and a memory throughput of up to 4800MT/s. However, memory speed is dependent on the CPU and memory modules, defaulting to the slowest supported speed between the two. Storage options include 3.5-inch SATA drives, 2.5-inch SAS/SATA drives, and M.2 NVMe Gen4 drives. A single 3.5-inch drive or a single NVMe M.2 drive can be installed in each of the two flexbays using optional drive cages.
Equipped with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, additional system expansion can be achieved using the 5x PCIe expansion slots. It can be outfitted with optional network controllers, Thunderbolt 4.0, and additional storage through Dell’s Ultra-Speed Drive Quad or Duo PCIe cards. Up to 2x GPUs from NVIDIA or AMD can populate the Dell 5860 Tower Workstation, including the NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada. On the rear of the workstation there is a single 1GbE RJ-45 port and a single 10GbE RJ-45 port for network connectivity. Power supply options include a 750W Platinum rated PSU or optional 1350W Platinum rated PSU. Compatible operating systems on this system include Windows 11, Windows 10, Ubuntu, and Red Hat Linux. System temperatures are regulated with an active fan solution.
