Dell Precision 7960 Rack Workstation

Designed for the most compute intensive workloads, the Dell Precision 7960 Rack Workstation is a 2U, dual-socket system. It supports 2x Intel Xeon processors with up to 56 cores and up to 350W each. Beyond that, each CPU has an 8-channel memory architecture with 16x DIMM slots per CPU for a maximum of 8TB of DDR5 memory. On the front panel, the workstation delivers 8x 2.5” or 3.5” SATA/SAS drives with a maximum of 32TB of NVMe storage and 96TB of HDD storage.

Dell Precision 7960 Rack Workstation front The system offers ISV certification for use with the most popular applications.Memory speeds up to 4800MHz are available when all 32x slots are populated with DIMMs per channel (DPC). The minimum memory configuration supported is 16GB when only 1x slot is filled. The system offers up to 2x 300W double-wide graphics cards in PCIe Gen5 slots from NVIDIA or AMD, but dual CPUs must be installed, as well as a 1400W/2400W PSU. The following GPUs are supported:

    • Dell Precision 7960 Rack Workstation rear In addition to the external storage bays, the Precision 7960 rack workstation features up to 8x M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen4 x4 SSDs for super-fast storage. The maximum configuration is supported on 2x Dell Precision Ultra-Speed Drive Quad x16 PCIe cards, but does require dual CPUs and a graphics card in a low-profile riser slot. Up to 7x PCIe expansion slots can be accessed through the back of the chassis when 2x CPUs are installed. The following expansion slots are available:

  • 1x Gen 4 x16 low profile (FL) slot (Reserved for NVMe boot with Dell Ultra-Speed Duo x8 LP PCIe card

    • Managing the system is also made easier with the Dell Optimizer for Precisions to ensure you get the most out of the ISV certified applications. And exclusive analytics feature also helps deliver a more personalized set of features and can also generate reports, system diagnostics and productivity gains.
