It also supports 4x 3.5-inch externally accessible drive bays, 1 x 2.5" SATAIII internal fixed drive bay, and a U.2 PCIe 3.0 x 4 connector that supports 1 x U.2 SSD or M.2 NVMe drive. At full capacity, it will support up to 128GB of memory.

This platform is designed for use as a workstation for personal platform with support for Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016, plus Linux Red Hat and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. This system is designed for visual computing, general networking applications, and for use as a hybrid/private cloud server. The system features a locking front bezel, plus up to 12x USB ports, 5x audio jacks, and support for Thunderbolt 3.0. This system is also compatible with gaming and enterprise GPU options from both AMD and NVIDIA. Choose from NVIDIA GeForce, AMD Radeon or NVIDIA Tesla, including the NVIDIA Tesla P100 and V100. The system is powered by a single 1200W 80 PLUS Gold power supply unit.
This system supports a single Intel Xeon W-2200 series or W-2100 series processor. A W-2200 series processor will provide up to 18 physical cores and 32 virtual threads of processing power at a maximum thermal design power (TDP) rating of 165W. These processors also provide 4-memory channel architecture plus up to 48 PCIe 3.0 lanes.
With 4x memory channels and 8x memory module slots, at full capacity there will be two memory modules in each memory channel for up to 128GB. Memory modules supported on this system include DDR4 registered DIMMs (RDIMM) and Load-Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMM).
There are 4x 3.5-inch SATAIII storage bays on the front of the Gigabyte W281-G40 tower workstation behind a locking front bezel. A single internal 2.5-inch SATA3 drive bay is also available and can be mounted in the media bay at the top of the chassis. The system also supports a x4 PCIe 3.0 slot on the system board for a single M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 drive with 2242, 2260, 2280, or 22110 form factors. An optical 5.25" disk drive (ODD) is optional.
A total of 7x PCIe Gen3 x16 expansion slots are available on the system. Only slot #7 offers a PCIe 3.0 x16 with 16 electrical connections, all other 6 slots can be configurable as 0/8/16 electrical connections shared with another PCIe slot.
General systems management is provided by the operating system.
