Gigabyte W771-Z00 Workstation

Description

Designed to support a number of high-performance computing tasks for architecture, engineering, visual computing, AI and AI training, the Gigabyte GPU Workstation W771-Z00 offers powerful performance from just a single AMD Ryzen Threadripper processor. It has 4x 3.5-inch drive bays with an option to support 4x more, and can be outfitted with SAS, SATA or NVMe drive formats. Dual 2000W Platinum level power supply units (PSUs) provide the juice for up to 4x double wide 300W GPUs. All slots are PCIe 4.0, and with 8x memory channels to work with, the system can support up to 2TB of memory. 2x 10Gb Ethernet ports provide fast access to the network.

Performance

The Socket sWRX80 supports a single AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX or previous generation 3000WX processor. With a thermal design power rating of 280W, processors with up to 64 physical cores and 128 virtual threads are supported. Both processor families support PCIe 4.0 which offers twice the bandwidth compared to PCIe 3.0. 8-channel memory architecture also provides for a large memory footprint.

Memory

With 8x memory channel slots on the system board, each memory module resides in a single memory channel for maximum throughput. Unbuffered (UDIMM), Registered (RDIMM), and Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) and 3DS RDIMM and LRDIMM memory modules are supported. At full capacity it can deliver up to 2TB of memory using 256GB LRDIMM modules. Memory speeds of 3200/2933/2666/2400/2133 MHz are supported.

Storage

There are 4x SATA/NVMe 3.5-inch drive bays on the front of the chassis with the options to install another drive cage with 4x more. The onboard controller supports RAID configurations or 0, 1, 5, and 10. 2x SATAIII M.2 drives are supported on the system board via 2x PCIe 4.0 x4 slots. SAS drives are supported with an optional SAS card. There are 2 5.25-inch media bays in the upper portion of the chassis reserved for optical drives.

Expansion

In addition to 12x USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, the Gigabyte GPU Workstation W771-Z00 supports up to 128x PCIe 4.0 lanes thanks to AMD Ryzen Threadripper CPUs. There are 7x PCIe 4.0 slots with 6x PCIe x16 slots and 1x PCIe x8 slot. The platform supports up to 4x double-wide GPUs up to 300W each, including the NVIDIA A6000, and AMD Pro W6600 and others. WiFi is provided by another M.2 slot on the system board. Additional expansion options include SSD storage drives, Thunderbolt 3, SAS controllers, and high-speed network controller cards.

Management

An integrated GbE mLAN port on the back of the systems allows Administrators to remotely manage the system. Along with troubleshooting tools provided by the OS of choice, the system also supports the ASPEED AST2600 baseboard management controller (BMC), and is preloaded with the Gigabyte Management Console supporting an AMI MegaRAC SP-X web interface. Through the Gigabyte Management Console users and Administrators can take advantage of a number of tools like HTML5 KVM, hardware inventory, fan profiles, power consumption and control, plus remote BIOS and BMC updates.
