With a little help from a single Intel Xeon W CPUs, the HP Z6 G5 Workstation can do it all! It can support up to 36 cores, up to 1TB of DDR5 ECC memory, and up to 3x double-wide NVIDIA GPUs or 2x AMD GPUs. There are various storage options supported on this system for up to 88TB of storage when fully outfitted. It’s designed for graphics-intensive projects including, machine learning and simulation, plus advanced 4k visual effects and film editing.
Offering a world-class acoustic design, the HP Z6 G5 Workstation is whisper quiet, even when under load. It can be outfitted with a single processor from the Intel Xeon W-3400 series, including W9, W7 and W5 families offering 12x to 36x cores and hyperthreading for double the virtual threads. These CPUs support DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 with some of the available expansion slots. There are a variety of ports on the front and back of the system including 2x SuperSpeed USB ports with a 20Gb/s signaling rate, plus 8x USB Type-A slots, counting front and back, offering 5Gb/s signaling rates. Thunderbolt 4 technology is supported as an option. WiFi is now integrated with the system preserving the PCIe slots for other options. Realtek audio is supported, plus one headphone microphone combo port on the front of the chassis and an optional optical device.
With this update, the Z6 G5 supports DDR5 ECC memory for up to 1TB of memory in 8x memory module slots. However, the initial release will only support up to 512GB of memory. The higher memory capacity is scheduled for the second quarter of 2023. Memory speeds of up to 4800MHz are supported.
Up to 88TB of storage is possible on this system with the purchase of additional hardware. 2x Front-accessible NVMe drive bays are planned for the second quarter of 2023, and will occupy one of the 5.25” media bays. Drive bays include one external 3.5-inch drive bay, and 3x internal 3.5-inch drive bays, plus 4x internal slots for M.2 drives.
To support 3x double-wide NVIDIA RTX A6000 Ada Generation 48GB GPUs or the 2x AMD Radeon Pro W6800 32GB GPUs, a 1450W PSU is required. Alternate power supplies include an 1125W and 775W internal power supply. There are 6x expansion slots on the system board, not counting the 2x PCIe 4.0 x8 slots for the internal NVMe M.2 drives. The other slots include 4x PCIe x16 slots with a PCIe 3.0, 4.0 or 5.0 bandwidth. 2x more PCIe 4.0 x4 slots are also available.
Offering high-performance for a number of applications, the HP Z6 G5 Workstation is designed for tackling the most graphics-intensive workloads. It is also designed for data scientists with an interest in machine learning, plus financial analysis and simulation. Housing a single Intel Xeon W-3400 CPU, this platform provides a quick return on investment. Administrators can also manage fleets of workstations from any device using the HP Anywhere remote access software. HP Anywhere also enables users to access the system remotely to continue editing and data visualizations. The HP Data Science Stack Manager provides easy access to data science tools with automatic updates. It’s also ISV certified for use with a number of leading software applications.
