CPUs with 18 to 86 physical cores and up to 172 virtual threads can be installed in the HP Z8 Fury G6i Workstation. Each processor delivers 8x memory channels, and with 16x DDR5 memory module slots it can be outfitted with 2x DIMMs per Channel (2DPC) for up to 2TB. Memory speeds of up to 6400MT/s are supported. The front of the system offers two different options for I/O ports. The entry-level panel includes 4x USB type-A ports offering 5Gb/s data transfer rates, and a Premium panel that offers 2x USB type-A ports and 2x USB type-C ports providing 20Gb/s transfer rates. The back of the system provides more ports.

A 5.25-inch media bay on the front of the chassis can be outfitted with an optical device or 2-4 NVMe M.2 drives each with a lockable drive bay for security. Inside the chassis are 2x 3.5-inch SATA drive bays plus 4x PCIe 5.0 x4 slots on the system board for NVMe M.2 drives. The system also offers 9x PCIe slots for expansion and additional storage with an HP Z Turbo Drive Quad Pro PCIe SSD card. The PCIe slots can also support optional networking, GPUs, and Thunderbolt 5 technology for superfast data transfers.
Up to 4x 300W GPUs, including the NVIDIA RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Max-Q GPUs. Additionally, the Z8 Gen6 will also support a single 600W GPU or a single quad-wide GPU. A Max Side Panel can be installed instead of the standard side panel and provides enhanced cooling and more space for larger GPUs and those with a higher Thermal Design Power (TDP) threshold.
Power is provided by either a single or dual redundant power supply that can deliver up to 1350W when connected to a 120V standard outlet or up to 1700W when connected to a 208-240V single-phase socket. With 2x PSUs installed, they can be configured in aggregate mode to deliver up to 2700W with a standard outlet or up to 3400W with a single-phase socket. With aggregate mode enabled there is no redundancy.
