With a single socket, the Lenovo ThinkStation P7 still delivers the goods with support for an Intel Xeon W-3400 processors with up to 56 physical cores. It can support up to 1TB of DDR5 memory modules, plus up to 3x NVIDA RTX 6000 48GB ADA Generation GPUs. Featuring optional hot-swap front access drives and other options it can support up to 56TB of storage.
Designed to support applications in graphics-intensive applications, AI, machine learning and simulation, plus advanced 4k visual effects and film editing, the Lenovo ThinkStation P7 offers a surprisingly attractive Aston Martin inspired case design. Equipped with just a single Intel Xeon W-3400 Sapphire Rapids processor, the P7 can support up to 56 cores, up to 3x high-performance double-wide GPUs, and up to 2TB of DDR5 memory. There are two options to power the system, either a 1000W or 1400W 92% efficient single PSU. The system supports Windows 11 Pro, Win 10 Pro, Linux Ubuntu, and other options. Independent Software Verification (ISV) certification ensures industry leading programs will run reliably on this platform. Outfitted with the latest software, the P7 excels in creation of BIM, complex 3D CAD, reality capture and geospatial visualization, visual effects, and edge deployments.
Two integrated LAN ports provide connection speeds of 1GbE and 10GbE respectively. Additional ports on the front of the chassis include 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen2 ports and USB-C 3.2 Gen2 ports both of which provide 10Gbps connection speeds. On the back of the system there are 2x USB 2.0 ports, 3x USB-A 3.2 Gen2 ports providing 10Gbps connection speeds, and a single USB-C 3.2 Gen2x2 offing 20Gbps with two way traffic. There are internal Wi-Fi antennas although this is optional and additional hardware may be required.
Using a myriad of storage options, the Lenovo P7 Workstation can support up to 56TB of storage. The maximum storage option includes 4x NVMe M.2 drives for a total of 16TB, paired with a maximum of 3x 3.5-inch drives with 12TB capacities for 36TB of storage. RAID for M.2 devices include 0, 1, 5, and 10. Supported SATA drives can also be placed in a RAID using integrated RAID options of 0, 1, and 5.
DDR5 memory provides this system with a 1.6x improvement in memory bandwidth over DDR4 memory modules. It has 8x DDR5 DIMM slots providing up to 1TB of memory when loaded with 128GB memory modules in all slots. Memory speeds supported include a maximum of up to 4800MHz.
Offering PCIe 5.0 bandwidth provides double the bandwidth compared to PCIe 4.0. PCIe 5.0 is applied to 4x of the 7x expansion slots, including 3x x16 slots and a x8 slot. The other expansion slots include a x16, x8 and x4 slot and utilize PCIe 4.0 bandwidth.
Lenovo’s ThinkStation P7 provides the performance for the most demanding applications. The single socket architecture enables immediate cost savings when compared to a dual processor system, yet can still provide up to 56 cores of processing power using Intel’s Xeon W-3400 CPUs. Management of the system is easy using Lenovo’s ThinkStation Diagnostics and ThinkShield utility. He Lenovo Performance Tuner can also help to optimize the system to get the most out of hardware and software for single-threaded or multi-threaded applications.
