The Lenovo ThinkStation P900 is ideally suited to running a variety of applications from CAD/CAM, 3D modeling, production and post, to medical imaging and financial analysis. With all the optional hardware available on this system, easy tool-less access, and support for the latest technologies, you can outfit the P900 to suit your unique application with ease.
The Intel C610 chipset supports up to two Xeon E5-1600 or E5-2600 v3 processors with 2.5MB cache per core and up to 18 cores per processor for a total of 36 cores or 72 virtual threads. 16 DIMM slots of DDR4 memory support both LR (Load Reduced) and R (Registered) DIMMs at up to 2133Mhz. Nvidia graphics cards are supported, and both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives using Lenovo's Flex Trays that can hold up to two drives each.
ECC Load Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs), Registered DIMMs (RDIMMs), and Unregistered DIMMs (UDIMMs) are supported on this system. Each processor controls eight slots for 16 total slots and up to 512GB with RDIMMs or 1Terabyte of memory with 64GB LRIMM modules.
SAS, SATA and eSATA HDDs and SSDs are supported. Using Lenovo's Flex Trays each drive bay can support two HDs and plug directly into the backplane for hot-swap capability. With 3.5-inch drives the system supports a massive 32 Terabytes of storage. Up to four M.2 SSDs can also be installed to add an additional Terabyte of storage. This system is virtualization-ready with built-in support for RAID configurations of 0, 1, 5, and 10.
Eight PCIe expansion slots support a multitude of external devices including high performance GPUs. Three Nvidia K6000 graphics cards can be installed, including Nvidia's Tesla K40 graphics coprocessor for some truly blistering fast performance. Eight USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 slots round out some impressive expansion potential including support for multiple monitors.
The P900 features a clean industrial design, inside the case you'll find a very clear modular layout with red touch points to indicate removable components, which are pretty much everything in the case including the motherboard. Even the power supply can be switched out in seconds. Lenovo's Performance Tuner helps to manage the system and Lenovo Mobile Diagnostics to track system health can be accessed from one of the dedicated ports on the front of the system using an Android device outfitted with Lenovo's mobile app.
Simple yet elegant design, excellent air flow, and very quiet acoustics offer a very promising first impression that is only strengthened by the robust storage and memory. Built-in handles make it easy to move the system to another location, and the hard drives are easily removed for secure storage. The many "Flex" options on the system also offer tremendous expansion potential as well as ease of use across other Lenovo P-series workstations making maintenance a familiar operation across the product line. It also supports more expansion slots and USB ports than most users will have a need for, but still a great option for super-users.
