Sporting dual 4th generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, the Lenovo ThinkStation PX can deliver up to 120 physical cores and 240 virtual threads. It supports a maximum memory capacity of up to 2TB, plus support for up to 4x Nvidia RTX 6000 Ada Generation 48GB GPUs. It offers plenty of storage potential with support for 3.5-inch SATA bays and up to 7x NVMe M.2 drives, depending on the configuration.
Code name Sapphire Rapids, the 4th generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors (SP) provide a maximum of up to 60 physical cores and 120 virtual threads each. The Lenovo ThinkStation PX supports dual processors for up to 120 physical cores. Intel Xeon SPs also support DDR5 memory modules and PCIe 5.0 for vastly improved performance over PCIe 4.0 for both NVMe storage and I/O. The case has been redesigned with a little help from Aston Martin, and can run the most compute intensive applications with ease from the comfort of your desk or remotely accessed in a data center. For advanced applications like AI or machine learning and training, 3D rendering, Scientific simulations and a number of other workloads, the system can support up to 4x 300W GPUs. It also features ISV certification (Independent Software Verification) ensuring professional industry-leading programs run flawlessly.
It features an 1850W 92% efficient PSU with an option to install dual redundant power supplies for data center applications or more resiliency in the office. Several PCIe 5.0 slots provide options for GPU acceleration, I/O controllers, HD/SSD controllers, and storage options. Outfitted with only a single CPU, some PCIe and memory module slots will not be active. The system can support Bluetooth and internal WiFi antennas but additional hardware may be required.
Storage supported on the Lenovo PX workstation includes a few configurations. One with up to 7x drives including 3x Gen4 NVMe M.2 drives plus up to 4x 3.5-inch drive bays. The other configuration includes up to 9x drives and includes 7x Gen4 NVMe M.2 drives with a maximum of 2x 3.5-inch drives. RAIDs of 0, 1, 5, or 10 are supported for both M.2 or SATA drive types using the integrated controller. Full storage capacity is listed at 60TB using the 9x storage bay option.
At full capacity, the Lenovo PX can support up to 2TB of DDR5 Registered DIMMs (RDIMM) with memory speeds of up to 4800MT/s. Each CPU socket is in charge of 8x DIMM slots for a total of 16x active memory module slots, with both processors installed.
The dual processors configuration will support 4x PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, 4x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots and a single PCIe 4.0 x8 slot, with a single processor implementation, only 2x PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and 2x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots are supported. There are several ports both front and back with options for USB-A and USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports offering a bandwidth of 10GB/s. With more ports on the back, there are 4 USB-A Gen1 ports with a 5Gb/s speed, a single USB-C 3.2 gen 2x2 offering 20Gb/s and integrated 1GbE and 10GbE ports for network communications to name a few.
Offering a flexible and expandible chassis, the Lenovo ThinkStation PX is the pinnacle of Lenovo’s workstation line up. Outfitted with dual Intel Xeon Sapphire Rapids CPUs this platform can support up to 120 cores plus up to 4x high-performance double-wide GPUS from NVIDIA. It offers plenty of memory and storage for tackling large data sets and complex workloads. This platform is highly adaptable and can be outfitted with just a single processor with the option to add another plus more memory, storage, and PCIe cards.
