The Supermicro SuperWorkstation 7039A-i features a dual socket motherboard which supports 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors. The Intel Xeon processors allow for speeds up to 2933 MHz with 16 DIMM slots total or eight slots per processor. The chassis features four 3.5-inch internal drive bays and two 2.5-inch peripheral drives. To expand system capabilities, there are 4x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots along with 2x PCIe 3.0 x8 slots.
The Supermicro SuperWorkstation 7039A-i supports a dual socket configuration for either first or second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Outfitted with dual processors the system will support up to 4TB. The on-board expansion slots can be equipped with powerful GPUs for 3D rendering and other graphics-intensive applications.
This system can be configured as a single or dual socket machine. Both first and second generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors are supported and provide up to 28 cores per processor. The Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum Xeon Scalable families are all compatible with the Supermicro 7039A-i. Gen 2 Scalable processors allow for memory speeds up to 2933MHz. A single 1200W high-efficiency PSU with PMBus powers the system.
With 16 total DIMM slots, this system supports up to 4TB of 3DS ECC DDR4 memory using Gen 2 Xeon Scalable processors. Both RDIMMs and LRDIMMs are also compatible with the system operating at speeds of up to 2933MHz. memory speed is dependent on both the CPU speeds and memory speed. The system memory is able to correct single-bit errors and detect double-bit errors using ECC memory.
With four 3.5-inch internal drive bays and an additional two 2.5-inch peripheral drive bays the SuperWorkstation 7039A-i is a great choice for storage flexibility. The system supports RAID levels of 0, 1, 5, and 10 to prevent loss of data in the case of hard drive failure or for performance applications.
4x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots and 2x PCIe 3.0 x8 slots give you options for hard drive controllers, superfast network connection speeds, more storage, and high-performance GPUs. The system will support a maximum of two GPUs for 3D visualization tasks and graphic-intensive applications. With two GPUs you will need to upgrade the fans and set fan speed to Heavy I/O. The system also has six USB 3.0 ports, four on the rear and two on the front. Two RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports provide a fast connection to your local server. Faster network connection speeds are available using an optional network cards in one of the PCIe slots.
Intel’s Node Manager and the SuperDoctor 5 are compatible with this system. SuperDoctor 5 allows system admins to track the health of your system across a number of key categories both at the chassis and remotely. IPMI 2.0 is the Supermicro integrated platform management interface base management controller (BMC), and provides a hardware health monitor plus remote power control.
The Supermicro SuperWorkstation 7039A-i is a very customizable system for high-performance tasks in financial analysis, 3D graphics, animation, CAD/CAM, and a host of other applications. The expansion slots in this system allow for the installation of full-height and full-width GPUs for graphical rendering, and computational acceleration depending on your workload.
