The Dell PowerVault MD3060e storage enclosure maximizes the storage capacity of PowerEdge servers in a space-saving dense 4U form factor. Effortlessly scale up to 240 drives for over 2PB of data using less than one-half of a standard rack.
The Dell PowerVault MD3060e storage enclosure increases application performance and maximizes storage capacity for Dell PowerEdge R630, R730, and R730xd servers with a minimal increase on the IT infrastructure's footprint. Each 4u enclosure holds up to 60 large form factor (LFF) or small form factor (SFF) drives for a max internal storage capacity of 600TB. Expanding this enclosure to its full Direct Attached Storage (DAS) capacity with additional enclosures will provide an up to 180 drives and over 2PB of data using 10TB drives. With full expansion a dual port Host Bus Adapter (HBA) is required. This enclosure can easily be managed through the host server and supports a wide array of operating systems. Dell's PowerVault MD3460 Storage Array is also compatible with this storage enclosure.
Up to 60 SFF or LFF drives provide a maximum internal storage capacity of 600TB in a 4U form factor. Administrators can configure the Dell MD3060e with a mixture of SAS, near-line SAS (NL-SAS), SSD, and Self-Encrypting (SED) drives to create the optimal environment for their data needs. To expand this enclosure to its full DAS capacity, four of these enclosures can be daisy-chained together behind a single server. A fully expanded configuration will support up to 240 drives and provide an impressive 2.4PB of data with a maximum of four enclosures and 12U rack space. Drives, power supplies, fans, and Enclosure Management Modules (EMMs) are all hot-swappable for stress-free upgrades, serviceability, and to support redundancy.
The storage enclosure management software operating on the host server enables a user to monitor, manage, and update the Dell MD3060e through an in-band 6Gb/s SAS connection for optimal usability. Storage enclosure software is supported on a variety of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Nexenta, Ubuntu, and Debian. This flexibility allows administrators to choose the software and operating system they are most familiar with to manage their data.
