As a hybrid storage server, the Tyan Transport SX TS65AB8036 B8036T65AV4E24HR server supports up to 26x front-mounted SAS, SATA, NVMe drive bays, plus 2x more in a drive cage at the rear of the chassis. Compute is provided by a single AMD EPYC series 7002/7003 CPU supporting up to 4TB of memory in the 2U chassis.
Other TS65AB8036 Chassis ConfigurationsThe single AMD EPYC series processor can be chosen from either the 2nd or 3rd generation 7002/7003 series processors with the 3rd generation providing more than a 19% increase in performance. Both generations can deliver up to 64 cores and 128 threads, plus PCIe 4.0 bandwidth speeds.
8x memory channels are supported by the CPU, which has access to a total of 16x memory module slots. This system is compatible with registered (RDIMM), load reduced (LRDIMM), plus 3DS RDIMM and LRDIMM memory modules providing 2TB and 4TB respectively. Memory will run at speeds of up to 3200MHz with an appropriate processor and memory modules.
SAS, SATA and NVME drives are supported, with 24x NVMe drive bays indicated with light blue drive tray levers. The other 2x drives on the far-right front of the system have dark blue drive tray levers and support SATA drives at 6Gb/s. Two more drives can be installed in a separate drive cage located at the rear of the chassis for a total of 28x drive bays. NVMe M.2 drive slots on the motherboard can be used to support the OS in mirror mode. SAS drives and NVMe drives will require additional hardware.
There are 4FH/FL and 1HH/HL PCIe Gen 4.0 slots on the pre-installed Tyan risers. Although, if you plan on maximizing storage, either SAS or NVMe, then you will need to install additional storage mezzanine cards in the available PCIe slots. There are two GbE ports and a single dedicated management port on the back of the system.
The Aspeed AST2500 management module monitors the temperature, voltage, memory, and power using an integrated platform management interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0) compliant baseboard management controller or BMC. Additional apps such as megaRAC, Watchdog, and Redfish API offer a more user-friendly graphic interface that can be accessed using a standard browser.
