The Tyan Transport SX TS65B8253 B8253T65V10E4HR server is a great general-purpose server for the cloud offering ample storage up front combined with dual AMD EPYC processors. As an option, the system also supports up to 4x NVMe U.2 drives for added resilience and speed.
You can install a maximum of two AMD EPYC 7002 (ROME)or 7003 (MILAN) series processors with a thermal design point (TDP) not to exceed 240W. This limitation on processor TDP does exclude a number of AMD EPYC options. Each processor also supports 8x memory channels. The system is powered by two 80 Plus Platinum 1200W PSUs for 1+1 redundancy.
With both processors installed, this system has 16x active memory module slots. Eight memory module slots are allocated to each processor, with only one memory module per memory channel for optimal performance. Both registered (RDIMM) and load reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules are supported, but only 3DS LRDIMM modules will reach the capacity limit of 4TB. Registered DIMM modules will provide up to 1TB of memory. Memory will run at speeds of up to 3200MHz if both the memory modules and CPUs support that speed.
Storage on this system is fairly robust with 12x 3.5-inch storage bays in front and two more 2.5-inch, hot swap drive bays in back. SATA III drives are supported natively by the onboard controller, but RAID is not supported without a discrete HD/RAID controller. Up to 4x NVMe U.2 drives are supported on this system, all other drives are SATA III.
With 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes to work with, the Tyan TS65B8253 B8253T65V10E4HR server offers 7x PCIe 4.0 slots for optional cards including network and HD controllers.
As with the other Tyan systems, this one has a dedicated RJ-45 port in back for access to the integrated platform management interface, or IPMI. The IPMI interfaces with the Aspeed AST 2500 module on the system board for at-chassis and remote management of the system.
