Supporting a single 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor, the Tyan Thunder HX FT65TB5642 B5642F65TV8E2H-G workstation tower can also be rack mounted. It supports up to 2TB of memory plus multiple high-performance GPUs. 10 hybrid storage bays on the front of the chassis, plus slots for 2x M.2 drives, provide ample storage for large workloads.
Designed for applications in architecture, construction, finance and oil and gas exploration, the Tyan Thunder HX FT65TB5642 B5642F65TV8E2H-G workstation tower can be customized to support a number of different workloads. With support for PCIe 4.0 it can also host high-performance GPUs and offers exceptional bandwidth for high-end I/O controllers and NVMe storage mediums. There are two versions of this single-socket workstation. This platform offers 3x fans for cooling and 2x GbE LAN ports for network communications. The other platform, the B5642F65TV8E2H-2T-N, has the same 3x fans plus 2x more hot-swap fans and 2x 10GbE ports and a single 1GbE port. Both feature a dedicated GbE port for management of the system.
Other FT65TB5642 Chassis ConfigurationsThe single Intel Xeon Scalable processor from the 3rd generation has a configurable thermal design point (cTDP) limit of 270W. 3rd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors also support PCIe 4.0 and more PCIe lanes at 64 compared to the previous generation, which only supported PCIe 3.0 with 48 lanes per CPU. Memory bandwidth has also been improved with 8x memory channels.
With 8x memory channels to work with, this system can support up to 2TB of memory at full capacity. Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) and Registered (RDIMM) memory modules are supported along with 3DS RDIMM and LRDIMM versions, which featuring a stacking die architecture for higher capacity memory modules. Memory speeds of up to 3200MT/s are supported.
This platform features loads of storage up front with 10x color-coded drive bays. The 2.5-inch drive bays have light blue drive tray release tabs and support U.2 NVMe drive formats natively with direct connections on the system board. 8x 3.5-inch hot-swap drive bays below the 2.5-inch drive bays support SATA natively or SAS drives with a SAS controller mounted in one of the PCIe slots. 2x NVMe M.2 drives are also supported on the system board in two x4 PCIe 3.0 slots. Virtual RAID on CPU (vROC) is supported for limited RAID with NVMe drive formats.
High-performance GPUs can be installed in the Tyan Thunder HX FT65TB5642 B5642F65TV8E2H-G workstation tower using slots 5 and 6 which support PCIe 4.0 with a x16 link. Three more PCIe 4.0 slots are provided for additional use including high-performance I/O, a SAS controller or other high-speed storage options.
A dedicated RJ45 port on the back of the system provides access to the Aspeed AST2500 baseboard management controller (BMC) for at-chassis and remote management of the system. LEDs on the front control panel provide health status for the dual LAN ports, hard drives and the integrated platform management interface (IPMI).
