The Dell Precision T5610 tower workstation is a two socket platform designed for complex 3D modeling, financial and scientific analysis, and engineering. Dell's Reliable Memory Technology helps remove memory errors increasing dependability. The system is ISV certified to work reliably with software from industry-leading applications.
The Dell T5610 tower workstation is one of Dell's mid-range workstations. Even though it's a few years old at this point, it still delivers outstanding dual-socket performance. Users can install up to 128GB of memory and up to six hot swap hard drives. There's also plenty of USB ports and expansion slots to support a range of external devices. The case is also very well-designed with handles on the top front and back to help move the unit around the office.
The Dell T5610 tower workstation is ISV certified to perform effortlessly running intensive software applications used by design engineers, financial analysts, and geologists. ISV is an acronym for Independent Software Vendor and means these independent software vendors have tested the software, hardware, and components to ensure stable and reliable performance.
Featuring Intel's C602 chipset, the Dell T5610 workstation supports dual Xeon E5-2600 v2 processors with up to 10 cores each. It also comes with turbo boost in some processors and optional vPro Technology, which is Intel's umbrella marketing term for a bunch of other things that are included with the processor.
Choose from either three 3.5-inch drives or six 2.5-inch SAS, SATA HDD or SSD drives. Two 3.5-inch or four 2.5-inch drives can be mounted internally. An additional 3.5-inch drive or two 2.5-inch drives can be mounted in the 5.25-inch media bay using an optional drive cage. SAS drives will require an add-in controller. A PCIe SSD can also be installed providing up to 350GB of additional super-fast storage. An integrated storage controller supports up to 6GB/s transfer speeds and RAID of 0, 1, and 10. The optional LSI9271-8i SATA.SAS PCIe controller supports RAID 0, 1, 10, and 5.
Quad-channel memory supports up to 128GB with two CPUs. There are 8 memory slots total, with 4 slots allocated to each CPU. Only ECC RDIMMs are supported with memory speeds of up to 1866MHz. To achieve top memory speeds, the memory modules must be paired with a compatible processor that also supports this memory speed. Speed of processing defaults to the slowest performer between the memory modules and CPUs.
The system features up to six expansion slots, five full-length and one half-length, for adding NICs, additional graphics cards, and optional audio and storage cards. There's also several USB ports located on the front and back of the system for hooking up a bunch of external devices. You can choose from both Nvidia and AMD graphic cards, including the Nvidia Quadro cards and AMDs FirePro professional-grade cards. A maximum of two graphics cards are supported. All of this is powered by a 90% efficient 825W or 685W PSU with 300W total allocated to graphics card support. If you will be installing two GPUs we recommend installing the 825W power supply.
The system supports Windows operating systems, in addition to, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu. The system also supports several security features including lockable hard drives and power supply, an intrusion sensor and data protection, advanced authentication, and malware protection. The system can also be accessed remotely using an optional Tera2 dual display PCoIP PCIe remote access host card.
As with all Dell products, the T5610 tower workstation is very well designed and features tool-less access and replacement for many of the components. It offers a reasonable amount of expansion with support for up to six hard drives and enough memory to meet the needs of most professional applications. For greater expandability and performance check out Dell's T7610 or T7910 workstations.
