This system supports two 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors up to 165W for the standard setup but you can install CPUs with a thermal design power (TDP) of 205W with certain configurations. Each processor can have up to 28 cores, for up to 56 cores and 112 threads in a dual processor configuration. Each processor also has 6x memory channels with each processor in charge of 12x memory module slots.
The Tyan TN76B7102 B7102T76V12HR-2T-G2 Server has 12x 3.5-inch storage bays up front that support SATA drives at 6Gb/s natively and offers limited RAID capabilities. SAS drives are also supported but only using a discrete HD/RAID controller. Two x4 PCIe 3.0 slots on the system board can support an NVMe M.2 drive in each slot to support the OS in mirror mode.
With 12x memory module slots per processor, a maximum of 2x DDR4 memory modules can be installed in each of the 6x memory channels. With both processors installed the system has 24x active memory slots. 3DS registered (RDIMM) or load-reduced (LRDIMM) DDR4 memory modules are supported, Intel Optane memory is also supported. The system will support up to 3TB using LRDIMMs or up to 1.5TB using RDIMM memory modules running at up to 2933MHz. Memory speed is dependent on both the speed of the processor and the speed supported by the memory modules with the slowest hardware determining speed.
There are 6x PCIe 3.0 x8 slots plus 3x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots. You can install a maximum of two double wide consumer graphics cards, like an Nvidia GeForce GTX card. For GPU installations, you may need additional power cables. An optional OCP mezzanine card can occupy a dedicated mezzanine card slot on the back of the system board.
A dedicated 1GbE port on the back of the system provides access to the Aspeed AST2500 base management controller or BMC. The BMC offers at chassis management or remote management of the system through the integrated platform management interface or IPMI.
