Designed to address 3D rendering, image processing, and animation the Tyan Thunder HX FT48TB7105 B7105F48TV4HR-2T-N Workstation tower supports dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors and up to five high-performance Tesla graphics cards from Nvidia, plus one from AMD. This system has a very similar layout to Tyan’s High-performance GPU servers with storage up front, a bank of fans in the middle, then the processors, CPUs, memory modules, and PCIe slots in very clearly defined areas.

You can outfit the Tyan FT48TB7105 B7105F48TV4HR-2T-N Workstation with one or two of Intel’s Gen 1 or Gen 2 Xeon Scalable processors featuring a Thermal Design Point (TDP) of up to 205W, which pretty much includes all of them. With support for 1.5TB of memory, total, you can go with the “standard” Scalable processors supporting 768GB each. Performance is enhanced by the addition of up to five double-wide, double-height workstation graphics cards from Nvidia. The system supports redundant power supplies of 1000W, although, when connected to a 220V-240 AC system the redundant PSU option may be disabled.
You can install up to four internal hot-swap SATA drives on the Tyan FT48TB7105 B7105F48TV4HR-2T-N Workstation tower operating and at 6Gb/s in four front-accessible storage bays. Two M.2 storage sticks can be installed directly on the motherboard using the two x4 slots just below the memory modules and to the right of the PCIe slots.
Each of Intel’s Xeon Scalable processors supports six memory channels, with six slots total so each memory module operates in its very own memory channel. There are 12 memory slots total, with the maximum memory capacity achieved by adding 128GB Load-Reduced (LRDIMM) or Registered (RDIMM) 3DS memory modules in each slot. Registered memory modules will provide the least capacity at up to 384GB using 32GB RDIMM memory modules.
This chassis supports four hot-swap SATA drives at 6Gb/s. Only the Tyan B7105F48TV4HR-2T-N workstation tower needs a PCIe air duct kit to cool the expansion cards, and is required with GPUs installed. This system also supports six fans. The other two pedestal workstations, the B7105F48TV4HR-2T-G and the B7105F48TV8HR-2T-G both feature active-cooled GPUs and only three fans. There are three 5.25-inch device bays on the front of the system above the hard drive bays that can be used to support additional devices.
A control panel behind the front bezel at the top of the chassis features the on/off button plus two USB ports, and several LEDs that monitor the power, LAN connections, and hard drives. The Onboard Aspeed AST2500 provides access to the baseboard management controller (BMC) to support local and remote access of the system.
With dual Intel Xeon processors, support for up to 1.5TB of memory, and up to five GPUs this tower workstation delivers some serious performance for a number of high-performance computing applications. It can also be rack mounted using an optional rack mount kit if you don’t want it taking up space on top of or under your desk.
