As part of the G-series Gigabyte family, the Gigabyte G492-Z50 supports up to 10x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots for GPUs. The system also features NVMe, SATA, and SAS compatibility throughout the 12x drive bays lined across the front panel. With support from AMD EPYC 7002 or 7003 series CPUs, this server offers better performance and less power consumption.
Gigabyte G482-Z51 GPU Server
2x AMD EPYC 7002/7003, 8x PCIe 4.0 GPUs, 8TB mem., 10x 2.5" SATA
The 64 cores and 128 threads on each of the dual AMD EPYC 7003 series processors help the other hardware power through demanding workloads. The CPUs have a 7nm architecture supporting a thermal design point (TDP) of up to 225W and a cTDP of up to 240W. In addition, the CPUs also support 8x memory channels with memory speeds of up to 3200MHz. The server also supports AMD EPYC processors from the 7002 series.
32x memory module slots are available on the MZ52-G40 motherboard, allowing each processor to host up to 8x memory channels, with two memory modules per channel. The server supports registered (RDIMM), load-reduced (LRDIMM), and 3DS RDIMM/LRDIMM modules. Up to 128GB per memory module can be installed with RDIMM and LRDIMMs, for a total of 4TB of memory. Up to 256GB per memory module are supported using 3DS RDIMM/LRDIMM for a maximum of 8TB of memory. Memory speeds will vary depending on the type of memory and processors used, and will range from 2933MHz to 3200MHz.
There are 22x drive bays lining the front of the chassis. Just below the I/O ports, there are 10x 2.5” drive bays with two different colored release tabs to indicate drive type support. 8x amber release tabs show that those bays are compatible with NVMe, SATA, or SAS devices. The remaining 2x blue release tabs indicate SATA and SAS compatibility. Underneath these drives are 12x 3.5-inch drive bays with blue release tabs, for more SATA and SAS devices. Both configurations support hot-swappable hard disk or solid-state drives.
This system holds 10x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots dedicated for dual slot GPUs. A single PCIe 3.0 half-length low-profile slot is located in the front, while the rear holds a single PCIe 3.0 half-length low-profile slot. GPUs supported in this server include devices from AMD, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, and Xilinx, but support is not provided for mixed GPU populations.
To manage the system, Gigabyte offers two options that are free-of-charge. The Gigabyte Management Console (GMC) monitors and controls a single server through a web browser. The other option, Gigabyte Server Management (GSM), manages multiple servers and is compatible with IPMI or Redfish. Both offer health status, inventory, and can be configured to send alerts.
Powered by dual AMD EPYC CPUs from the 7002 or 7003 series, the Gigabyte G492-Z50 supports up to 10x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots for GPUs all in a 4U form factor. The server has the ability to support up to 8TB of memory when all 32x memory module slots are populated with 3DS RDIMM/LRDIMM modules. With the flexibility that this system offers, it is the ideal choice for high-performance computing, visual computing, and artificial intelligence.
