Note that the enclosure is not compatible with SATA, NVMe, or vSAS drives. Engineered to be a performance-optimized storage array, the PowerVault MD2424 features a 24Gb/s SAS4 expansion connection that doubles the bandwidth compared to older Dell MD storage arrays. Each enclosure features dual redundant, hot-swappable 800W power supplies and two redundant enclosure management modules (EMMs). Because the enclosure only supports redundant configurations, both EMMs need to be connected to the server.
Supported 14G and 15G Dell servers**Additional servers may be added to this list.
The Dell MD2424 can be used for a variety of data center applications, including disaster recovery storage, databases, and critical business applications. To manage the enclosure, the server to which it is connected to can access the enclosure’s health by locally or remotely using the Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) or Server Hardware Manager Command Line Interface (SHMCLI). This allows administrators to efficiently manage multiple systems from a single interface, even when the server is powered off, with devices like tablets or smartphones.
